In a July 9 press release, the City of Gallup alerted the public to a scam in which the scammers attempt to collect bail money from parents by using the names of their children.
The city, municipal court, Gallup Police Department, and other area agencies will not attempt to collect bail money on behalf of those in custody by calling family members and demanding payment.
