He was born in Fort Defiance, Ariz., on Oct. 17, 1949. He was born into the Tohahani (Near water), born for Todichiinii (Bitter water).
Alvin was preceded in death by his mother Mary Haven; his father Leonard Havins; his brothers Vernon and Rudy Havens; his sister L. Carole Havens; his nephews Dyron Thompson and Lance Thompson; and his nieces Sherribeph Thompson and Michele Mikzsta.
A funeral service will be held at Bethlehem Christian Reformed Church in Shiprock, N.M., on Jan. 16 at 10 am.
