He was born in Gallup on Feb. 28, 1952.
“Jimmy” was preceded in death by his mother Andrea Talamante and his brothers Raymond Talamante and Herman Talamante. He is survived by his wife Roxanne Escajeda; his sons Dominic, Jude, Kevin, and Reggie Escajeda; his step-children-Steven Rubio, Andrew Rubio, and Eileen Roybal; his sisters Frances Villanueva, Christine Escajeda, and Antoinette Holland; his brothers Anthony Escajeda and Fabian Talamante; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at St. Francis Church on May 15 with the rosary starting at 10:30 am and an 11 am Mass. A reception at Santo Domingo Hall (214 W. Wilson Ave.) will follow the service.
“Jimmy” was a delivery/route man and worked for Bunny Bread, K&B Rainbow Bread, and Hostess throughout the years He was also an owner/manager of Uncle Steve’s Fried Chicken and in his retirement years he was a bus driver for Gallup-McKinley County Schools. He was a coach, starting off with T-Ball Little League, Pee Wee Reese, Robert Clemente, Willie Mays, and youth basketball.
He loved sports and the Dallas Cowboys, he was a very competitive man and didn’t like losing. He was a mentor to his sons and was very proud of them and all his grandchildren. He loved to barbecue, garden, work out in his yard, decorate for Christmas, go on the yearly “Sister’s Trip” with his wife’s family, buy lottery tickets, go to the casino, and being around his family and friends. He will be missed dearly.
