By Ben Ray Luján

U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján, D-N.M., issued the following statement June 24 on the fourth anniversary of the extremist conservative Supreme Court majority overturning Roe v. Wade in the disastrous Dobbs decision:
“Today marks four years since the extremist conservative Supreme Court majority overturned Roe v. Wade, undermining 50 years of legal precedent, allowing Republican politicians to interfere in personal health care decisions, and stripping away women’s reproductive rights,” he stated.
Luján continued by saying he would stand up for wome’s rights to make their own health care decisions.
“Women deserve the freedom to make their own health care decisions without interference from politicians,” he said. “In New Mexico, we have protected that freedom, and I remain committed to restoring the rights taken away by Dobbs and protecting reproductive freedom nationwide.”
Luján called Republicans out for restricting reproductive freedom.
“Despite an overwhelming majority of Americans supporting Roe, Republicans have only become more aggressive in their efforts to restrict reproductive freedom, as President Trump and Congressional Republicans continue working to punish women and roll back access to reproductive health care,” he said.
