Staff Reports
After two years of service as the Gallup City Manager, the Gallup City Council has decided to renew Frank Chiapetti’s contract.
The council made its decision during a special meeting Sept. 2—the exact day Chiapetti’s original contract expired. Council members met in a closed executive session for about two hours before returning to the chambers to announce the renewal.
Chiapetti’s new contract includes a few key stipulations.
Mayor Marc DePauli admitted that the council failed to perform Chiapetti’s contractually required performance evaluations over the past two years. Because the council skipped these reviews, Chiapetti never received a pay raise during his tenure.
To correct this, the council will evaluate Chiapetti every quarter moving forward, starting with his first performance review in October.
