Staff Reports
In a June 13 press release, the City of Gallup announced that they would now require organizations to fill out a funding request form for all financial inquires.
“The City of Gallup is committed to fostering a thriving community, and we understand the vital role that local organizations and city departments play in achieving this goal,” the press release states. “To streamline our funding allocation process and ensure transparency and efficiency, the City of Gallup is now requiring a standardized Funding Request Form for all financial assistance inquiries.”
What organizations looking for funding need to know:
Who needs to use this form? Any community organization, or non-profit, seeking financial support or funding from the City of Gallup.
Why is this form necessary? The Funding Request Form will help the City better understand organizations’ needs, evaluate proposals fairly, and allocate resources effectively to benefit the entire community. It ensures all requests are submitted with the necessary information for proper review and city council consideration
Where do people go to get the form? The Funding Request Form is available on the official City of Gallup website at https://www.gallupnm.gov/830/Charitable-Funding-Request.
What information will be required? The form will ask for details about the organization, the purpose of the funding request, the amount requested, financial records, organization information, and expected outcomes or impacts.
When does this take effect? This new requirement is effective July 1 for all new funding requests. Applications are due June 30 and will go before city council July 22 at their regularly scheduled city council meeting.
The city is encouraging all potential applicants to review the form and its requirements carefully. Submitting a complete and well-articulated request through the official form will ensure an application receives proper consideration. Incomplete forms will not be considered and returned to the applicant.
In an interview with the Sun, City Manager Frank Chiapetti said the city has a budget of $275,000 to support non-profits. The money will come out of the city’s General Fund. It isn’t associated with the Lodger’s Tax Fund, as that is strictly for events.
