Staff Reports WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. — The Navajo Nation Supreme Court has denied the Navajo Nation Assistant Attorney General’s Petition for Writ of Certiorari or Clarifying Opinion concerning the Budget and Finance Committee’s investigatory hearing on housing and related matters as of Aug. 10. The Petitioners sought review by the Supreme Court of an Order from the Window Rock District Court (Cause No. WR-CV-49-26) involving the validity of legislative subpoenas issued regarding the BFC’s housing investigation. The Petitioners failed to attach the Order to their filing, a simple procedural requirement, and the Supreme Court denied the Petition on procedural grounds.…
Staff Reports WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. — The Resources and Development Committee advanced legislation that would appropriate more than $34 million from the Unreserved, Undesignated Fund Balance to support emergency drought response and mitigation efforts across the Navajo Nation Aug. 3. The legislation addresses prolonged drought conditions that continue to threaten water availability, livestock operations, agriculture, public safety, and the overall well-being of Diné communities. Genia Lotzer is a 5′ 7″ Diné girl and she weighs about 130 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair. Lotzer was last seen in the area of Patton Drive and Boyd Avenue Aug. 9. She was wearing a pink shirt, black pants, and black and white shoes. Staff Reports SANTA FE — A Santa Fe judge ordered Meta to pay $567 million, and make changes for the user experience of juvenile accounts Aug. 6 after finding its platforms helped create a public nuisance harming teens. Chief District Court Judge Bryan Biedscheid’s ruling follows a two-phase trial in the state’s case, which New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez brought to the court. The $567 million figure is on top of $375 million in civil penalties from a jury verdict in Phase 1 of the trial, which found Meta committed 75,000 violations of the New Mexico Unfair Practices Act.…

To report damage, go to the City of Gallup website.
