Aggravated DWI (Second)
An Albuquerque man was stopped by New Mexico State Police for swerving across the road and eventually arrested and charged with his second DWI.
Officer Terence Willie responded to several calls about a white pickup that was reportedly unable to maintain its lane as it traveled westbound on Interstate 40 and pulled off into the shoulder near mile marker 51. He traveled to the scene and located a vehicle matching the description, a white Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck.
The truck reportedly moved slowly through the traffic to mile marker 46.5, which was in a construction zone and Willie followed. He pulled the vehicle over while also checking its license plate info through dispatch. Both the vehicle’s registration and insurance were suspended.
Willie met the driver, Alexander Chee, 31, and began questioning him. Chee reportedly said he was driving from Albuquerque and denied taking any medication or drugs or drinking any alcohol. However, Chee did reportedly show signs of intoxication including bloodshot eyes and smelling of alcohol.
Chee agreed to take the Standard Field Sobriety Tests. However, he performed poorly on the tests and was placed under arrest. A search of the vehicle turned up a miniature container of 99 Pineapples.
After being taken to the local state police office, Chee agreed to the breath test. He posted samples of .26 and .25. Then once the paperwork was finished, Willie transported Chee to McKinley County Adult Detention Center, where he was booked for aggravated DWI (second), driving while license revoked, no registration or insurance, and open container.
His pretrial hearing is set for Nov. 10.
