The City of Gallup will have a contractor onsite working on the transmission line to the new Sunshine Substation. To ensure personnel safety, power will be temporarily shut down for approximately two hours starting at 11:59 pm Oct. 15. Power should be restored at 2 am Oct. 16.
City of Gallup Electric customers in the following areas will be affected:
- All areas south of Interstate 40; between 3100 E. Hwy. 66 to the West “Y”
- Downtown, Chihuahuita, Second Street, SR564, the hospital area, UNM, Catalpa Hills, Cipriano, Boardman, Patton Drive, Red Hills MHP, and South Fork
To minimize any inconvenience, the city recommends residents take the following precautions:
- Ensure anyone who relies on supplemental oxygen has an adequate backup supply available.
- Turn off or unplug sensitive electronic equipment such as computers and audio/video equipment.
- Notify security monitoring systems about the scheduled power outage.
