Andres finished in the top 15 in the Boys 100 Meter Dash and was #1 for 1A schools in that event. As a freshman, Andres shows a lot of heart and tenacity. He is coachable and strives to improve during every practice. His positive attitude encourages his teammates as well.

Name: Max Milliken

Grade: Freshman
The Thoreau Hawks’ Track and Field team had an early bus departure of 5:15 am for the Jemez Valley Invite. Even after competing at a track meet at Round Valley the day before, Max was the fearless type of competitor who was willing to step up and replace a relay athlete who did not make the bus. Moreover, this wasn’t any type of relay; it was the 4 x 800 and Max had never raced that far ever before. He stepped up and helped the team win the championship in the 4 x 800!

Name: Kenya Tsosie
Sport: Basketball
Grade: Senior
Power forward Kenya Tsosie excels both on and off the court. Kenya is an outstanding athlete juggling rodeo, basketball, and her senior year of high school. She is always there to pick up and support her teammates. This season has been one of her toughest out of her past four years. With heart and determination, she battled her way back from an injury to finish with her team.

School: Tohatchi High
Name: Nash Brewer
Sport: Basketball
Grade: Junior
Nash played a role in the boys basketball team’s March 7 victory over New Mexico Military Institute. Nash’s two three pointers (back to back) and a steal helped spark a much needed run to help the boys team gain momentum going into the third quarter. The Coguars rode that momentum and won the first round of the state tournament 61-50.
