Aggravated DWI (Second)
Gallup Police responded to a call of a suspected drunk driver and eventually arrested a Gallup woman for her second DWI and having a child in the vehicle.
Officer Jordan Gemme was dispatched to Scooters BBQ, 2201 W. Hwy. 66, in response to the call. When they arrived at the scene, Gemme found a vehicle matching the caller description and met the driver, Lurcea Mann, 35.
Mann exited the vehicle on command but was reportedly slow to respond to Gemme’s instructions, including turning the vehicle off. While Gemme spoke to Mann, they also observed an infant child in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle, which Mann didn’t acknowledge.
She also reportedly showed other signs of intoxication including slurred speech and trouble keeping her balance. Mann then reportedly admitted to “being drunk” and drinking two drinks of Yukon Jack about an hour prior to being pulled over.
Gemme administered the Standard Field Sobriety Tests before Officer Ryan Boucher arrived to administer alternative testing. However, Mann performed poorly on each test and was placed under arrest. Boucher transported her to the police department for the breath test, where she posted two samples of .16.
Afterward, Mann was taken to McKinley County Adult Detention Center and booked for aggravated DWI (second) and DWI with a minor in the vehicle.
Her pretrial hearing is set for June 23.
