McKinley County Sheriff’s deputies found the bodies of two missing people after they allegedly crashed their vehicle into a tree.
On Feb. 1 around 10 am, a woman called Metro Dispatch and reported that a red vehicle had crashed on the road south of Fort Wingate. McKinley County Deputy Jarad Albert responded to the call and found a red pickup truck on the side of the road on Highway 400 near the 5.9 mile marker. According to Albert’s report, the truck appeared to have crashed into a tree.
The truck’s roof was reportedly peeled back, and Albert could see inside the vehicle. He noticed a man who appeared to be deceased in the driver’s seat.
A deceased woman was laying on the ground about four feet from the passenger seat.
Albert checked for signs of life, but the two people were already deceased.
When Albert ran the truck’s license plate it came back as belonging to a Lane Boyd.
According to Alfred’s report, Boyd and a woman named Tashina Gregorio had been reported missing a few days prior to the accident.
Alfred called for backup and for the Office of the Medical Investigator.
It was determined that Boyd was wearing his seatbelt, while Gregorio was likely not.
Deputies discovered an unopened bottle of Twisted Tea and an empty bottle of Coors Light on the floorboard of the driver’s side of the truck.
No signs of foul play were found.
Both Boyd and Griegorio appear to have died upon impact with the tree. The investigation is ongoing.
