McKinley County Sheriff says office has several leads

The search for 505 Burger & Wing’s Big Boy statue’s head and burger continues.
In an interview with the Sun,505 Burger & Wing’s owner Morgan Newsome said the thieves stole the statue’s head and burger around 4:15 am Feb. 3. He said he was able to catch the suspects’ vehicle on his surveillance camera, but the license plate is unreadable. He said the vehicle appears to be a blue or gray Dodge pickup truck.
“[Whoever stole the statue,] they disappointed quite a lot of kids,” Newsome said. “About 10 times a day kids would come by wanting pictures with the statue. People really enjoyed it.”
Newsome said he found the Big Boy statue at an auction one day. There are only 55 remaining Big Boy restaurants in the U.S, and none of them are in New Mexico.
McKinley County Sheriff James Maiorano III said his deputies are looking into a few different leads on the missing Big Boy case. He said the case may be related to a burglary that occurred at the Gallup Flea Market around 9 pm Feb. 2.
