SELLING FENTANYL TO UNDERCOVER COPS
Gallup, Jan. 15
A man was placed under arrest after he allegedly sold fentanyl to undercover cops.
Tristin Peterson, 26, reportedly gave the undercover officers four fentanyl pills. The officers paid him $20. After the exchange, the undercover officers left the scene and other officers kept watch on Peterson and another man who was with him.
Peterson was eventually arrested, and when NMSP Agent Isaiah Taylor spoke to him, he admitted that he’d sold some fentanyl. He also admitted that he had methamphetamine and more fentanyl pills on him.
He was charged with trafficking, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. His preliminary hearing was scheduled for Jan. 29.
STEALING MAKEUP
Gallup, Jan. 10
Two men were arrested for breaking into a woman’s car and stealing her makeup bag.
On Jan. 10, around 1 pm, Gallup Police Officer Tyler Bowman was dispatched to McKinley Medical Supply, located at 210 E. Nizhoni Blvd., after two men reportedly broke into a woman’s car.
The two men, who were eventually identified as Dominique Sedillo and Colby Charles, were found in a ditch behind the Rocket Café.
Charles allegedly gave Bowman a false name, and claimed to not know his social security or his address. Bowman reportedly entered him into the system as “John Doe” and eventually arrested him for burglary of a vehicle and concealing identity.
As Bowman was patting him down to check for weapons or drugs, Charles said that “the bag was given back,” although he had originally said he didn’t know anything about a bag when Bowman questioned him.
Other officers eventually found Sedillo, 29. Both men were placed in a police car and driven back to McKinley Medical Supply, where a witness identified them as the men who had reportedly broken into the vehicle.
Bowman also met with the owner of the vehicle. She said that she didn’t see the men break into her vehicle as she was inside the business, but a friend told her what happened. Another friend reportedly retrieved the bag for the victim.
The victim’s friend got into her own vehicle and followed the two men to Rocket Café.
While Bowman was talking to the witnesses, Sedillo admitted to another officer that he had sat inside the vehicle. He allegedly thought it was his grandmother’s car. He said that he and Charles gave the bag back.
Sedillo was charged with burglary of a vehicle. Charles was charged with the aforementioned charges. Sedillo’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 19, and Charles’ is scheduled for Feb. 12.
STEALING BEER
Gallup, April 19
A man reportedly stole some beer from a local gas station after seemingly growing tired of waiting in line
On April 19, around 11:45 pm, Gallup Police Officer Aaron Marquez responded to the Thoreau Speedway at 92 State Hwy. 371 after one of the gas station employees called Metro Dispatch to report that a man had reportedly stolen some items from the store.
According to the police report, a man, who was later identified as Terrell Shorty, had reportedly stolen a 12-pack of Corona beer. Shorty, 26, had allegedly last been seen running eastbound from the business. The employee said Shorty had been wearing a brown jacket and black pants.
Officers quickly found a man matching that description near Red Rock Avenue.
When they confronted Shorty, he said he hadn’t taken anything from the gas station. In his report Marquez noted that the smell of alcohol was coming off Shorty, but he reportedly had nothing on him.
The officers drove Shorty back to the Speedway, and the employee positively identified him as the person who had stolen the beer. Another employee said he’d seen Shorty use the restroom before he grabbed the 12-pack and walked out with it.
Shorty allegedly stood in line while the employees waited on other customers, but he eventually decided to run out of the store without paying.
When Metro Dispatch ran Shorty’s name, they came back with two warrants out of Magistrate Court. The two warrants were for child abandonment and battery on a household member.
The alcohol Shorty reportedly stole was never found.
Shorty failed to appear at his May 25 arraignment. He has a pretrial hearing scheduled for Feb. 6.
