Under the guidance of the Democratic Party of New Mexico, Democrats of McKinley County came together June 27 Saturday at the Veterans Center. The first order of business was the election of Ward Officers followed by election of officers.
McKinley County Ward 1 Chairperson is Carol Muskett with Brent Detsoi as Vice Chairperson. Ward 2 Chairperson is Katherine Arviso. Ward 3 Chairperson is Ben Welch with Janice Welch as the Vice Chairperson.
Upon completion of the election of the Ward Chairs and Vice Chairs, under the direction of the Democratic Party State Representative, election of officers took place. Mary Ann Armijo was nominated and voted to hold the office of Chairperson of the McKinley County Democratic Party. After this vote, the meeting was turned over to her as Chair and a vote for Vice Chair was called for. Michael Schaaf was nominated and elected. As was her privilege, the following appointments were made by Mary Ann Armijo: John Platero as Second Vice Chair, Mary Lindenmeyer as Secretary and Hilda Bowman as Treasurer.
With a new slate of officers to lead the McKinley County Democratic Party, it is now time for us to work with diligence and collegiality to ensure that our Democratic Candidates have the support needed to continue the work of the Democratic Party.
Our next meeting will be held on the third Thursday of July, July 16, at 5:30 pm at the Veterans Helping Veterans Center. Let us all come together in unity in these times.
