WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. — The 25th Navajo Nation Council will convene the 2026 Winter Session on Jan. 26 at 10 am in the Navajo Nation Council Chamber, located in the Nation’s capital of Window Rock, Ariz.
“The People’s House is where the voices of our communities shape the direction of our government,” Speaker Crystalyne Curley said. “Our Nation and our people continue to face important issues that require thoughtful discussion and meaningful action. Community engagement strengthens the work of the Council and ensures that solutions brought forward reflect the needs and priorities of the Navajo people. I encourage everyone to take part in the 2026 Winter Session by attending in person or joining us online.”
Prior to the opening session on Jan. 26,, a Human Trafficking Awareness Presentation will be hosted by the Missing and Murdered Diné Relatives Task Force.
On Jan. 27, members of the 25th Navajo Nation Council will recognize Alexis Begay, the first Navajo female U.S. Space Force specialist; retired Community Health Nurse Supervisor Ruth White; Navajo weaver Irene Clark; and Navajo youth ventriloquist Natalia Fawn Begay for their accomplishments and service.
Opening day ceremonies will include the posting of the colors by Chinle High School JROTC. Miss Jeehdeez’a Elementary School will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, and the National Anthem will be performed by Miss White Mountain Apache Queen Priya Simpson. The opening invocation will be delivered by former 23rd Navajo Nation Council Delegate Leonard Pete.
In accordance with Title 2 of the Navajo Nation Code, the Council is also scheduled to receive the State of the Navajo Nation Address on Jan. 26.
The 25th Navajo Nation Council encourages the public to attend the opening day of the 2026 Winter Session in person or to watch the proceedings via livestream. The session will be broadcast live on the Council’s Facebook page (@navajonationcouncil) and YouTube channel (@NavajoNationCouncil).
