SITTING ON A TRAMPOLINE
Gallup, April 12
A man was charged with trespassing and possession of a controlled substance after officers found him sitting in someone’s backyard.
Gallup Police Officer Cindy Romancito was dispatched to the 2000 block of Mossman Ave April 12 around 3:45 pm after a house sitter found a man, who was later identified as Cody Billie, sitting on a trampoline in the backyard.
When Romancito met with Billie, 25, she asked him if the black bags he had with him belonged to him. He confirmed that they did and tried to grab them, but Romancito grabbed them for him.
Billie reportedly had an outstanding no-bond warrant for his arrest out of Gallup Municipal Court for vehicle burglary. He was arrested for the outstanding warrant, and then Romancito looked inside his bag. She found a toothbrush container inside, and a brown paper towel was folded up inside the toothbrush container. A crystal-like substance was found hidden inside the paper towel.
After seeing this, Romancito arrested Billie for possession of a controlled substance and transported him to the McKinley County Adult Detention Center. His preliminary examination is scheduled for April 23.

DRUGS AND A DOG
Gallup, Jan. 27
Officers allegedly found a woman sitting in her car at a local gas station with her dog and over 30 fentanyl pills.
Gallup Police Officer Jacob Silversmith was dispatched to the Mustang Gasoline and Convenience Store, located at 3440 E. Hwy. 66 Jan. 27 around 1:30 am after a woman reportedly parked her car at a gas pump for a long time with the gas pump still in the car.
When Silversmith approached the car, he reportedly noticed a woman, who was later identified as Nancy Droll, 37, slumped over behind the wheel. He also allegedly saw some burnt aluminum foil and straws, which he determined Droll allegedly used for smoking narcotics.
Silversmith knocked on the driver’s side window and Droll woke up. She opened her car door, and that’s when the officer allegedly smelled a rubber-like scent coming from inside the car, which he believed to be the smell of fentanyl.
As Droll stepped out of the vehicle she reportedly dropped a pink straw on the ground.
Droll told Silversmith that she’d pulled over to the gas station while driving from Mentmore to Albuquerque. She estimated that she’d only been at the gas station for 15 minutes.
When Silversmith asked her if there were any drugs or alcohol in the car Droll said “No.” She also said she hadn’t consumed any narcotics recently.
Another officer arrived on scene and reportedly noticed some aluminum foil with some residue on it inside Droll’s car. Metro Dispatch also informed Silversmith that Droll had two arrest warrants out of Gallup Municipal Court.
Silversmith arrested Droll for the warrants, and when he searched her for any drugs on her person, he found a bag with multiple blue pills inside it, along with a glass pipe that had a white crystal-like substance inside it.
Droll was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Her car was left at the scene, but her small dog was picked up by McKinley County Animal Control. Droll reportedly had 51 fentanyl pills on her.
Her case was moved over to the Gallup District Court April 16. No other court dates were set as of press time.
