PEEING ON CLOTHES
Gallup, March 18
A man from Albuquerque is facing charges in Gallup Magistrate Court after he reportedly walked into a clothing store and peed on some of the merchandise.
On March 18, around 5:30 pm, Gallup Police Officers Patrick Largo and Darius Johnson were dispatched to the Fashion Mart, 806 U.S. Hwy. 491, after a man was reportedly being disorderly.
When Largo arrived at the scene a woman waved them down and led them to where a security officer and the business owner was holding a man down on the ground. The man was later identified as Brannen Destea, 28. Largo placed Destea in handcuffs and put him in the back of his patrol car. He then told him he would talk to him once he figured out what was going on.
Destea reportedly began throwing up in Largo’s patrol car. Officer Darius Johnson reportedly arrived at the scene, and handled Destea while Largo talked to the witnesses.
According to his report, the business owner told Largo that Destea had hit him. A store employee told Largo that the incident began when she noticed Destea peeing into one of the store’s clothing displays. The employee was told to call Metro Dispatch, which she did.
The store owner said he also saw Destea peeing on the clothing. He reportedly asked Destea what he was doing, and told him to stop.
The two men’s interaction reportedly became violent when Destea showed the store owner and tried to run away.
Largo also interviewed a security guard, who said he showed up as Destea was trying to run away. He reportedly asked Destea if he was shoplifting, to which Destea replied “no,” and said he was trying to get his wallet.
The security guard reportedly noticed Destea was wet, and asked him about it, to which Destea admitted to peeing on himself.
Largo followed the store owner into the store to review surveillance footage of the incident. In the video, Destea can reportedly be seen unzipping his pants and standing up against a wall where all the clothing merchandise was located.
The store owner estimated that there was a little over $1,000 worth of damages on the clothing.
After completing his investigation, Largo arrested Destea for criminal damage to property (over $1,000), battery, and indecent exposure. His preliminary hearing in Gallup Magistrate Court is scheduled for April 8.
246 FENTANYL PILLS
Gallup, March 12

A man is facing drug charges after narcotics agents with the Gallup Police reportedly found 256 fentanyl pills on him.
On March 12, around 2 pm, narcotics agents with the Gallup Police Department and the McKinley County Sheriff’s Department Task Force learned that a man was reportedly not breathing outside of the Home Depot, located at 530 Kachina St.
When officers arrived at the scene, the man laying on the ground reportedly got up and walked over to a group of men.
An officer ran the men’s names through Metro Dispatch and learned that one of them, Sirius Eriacho, had a warrant out for his arrest.
Officer Darius Johnson conducted a routine body search on Eriacho, 40, and reportedly found two vials and plastic baggies containing blue circular pills imprinted with «30/M» inside his sleeve. The Task Force located 246 pills on Eriaco’s person.
He was booked on the warrant and charged with distribution of a controlled substance. His preliminary hearing was scheduled for March 25 in Gallup Magistrate Court.
STEALING WINDBREAKERS AND JERSEYS
Gallup, March 12

A man from Texas reportedly tried to steal from a Gallup sporting goods store.
On March 12, around 7 pm, Gallup Police Officer Patrick Largo was dispatched to Hibbet Sports, located at 1752 W. Maloney Ave. after someone reportedly robbed the store.
When Largo arrived at the store he met with an employee, who said a man came into the store and took a pile of clothing from a rack. The man was eventually identified as Isayah Bright, who was 24 years old at the time. He was reportedly wearing all black, and he was last seen getting into a red Chevrolet Impala with no license plate.
Bright reportedly stole three Jordan windbreakers, valued at approximately $90 each. Later on, the store employee informed Largo that Bright also stole six Jordan jersey shirts, valued at $110 each. In total, he allegedly stole $930 worth in merchandise.
The store employee said Bright had been pacing around the store, and while he was helping out another customer he allegedly bolted out the door with the clothes. The employee tried to follow him out of the store, but then he realized the car Bright got into didn’t have a license plate he could record.
After gathering the store employee’s report on the incident, Largo cleared from the area. He then obtained a warrant for Bright’s arrest. Later on, Gallup Police Narcotics Agents reportedly found the vehicle parked at Travelodge Motel, 1601 W. Hwy. 66.
Bright reportedly had a felony warrant from Odessa, Texas for robbery with a $150,000 cash bond. He was charged with larceny for the Gallup incident and labeled as a fugitive from justice.
His preliminary hearing for the Gallup case was scheduled for March 25 in Gallup Magistrate Court.
