A man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly stabbed another man.
On Aug. 21, around 6 pm, Gallup Police Officer Daniel Brown responded to the Home Depot located at 530 Kachina Ave. after a man reportedly stabbed another man. The victim was reportedly chasing the suspect, who was later identified as Mark Goode Jr., 39.
Officers found two people matching callers’ descriptions on West Jefferson Avenue. The two men were allegedly chasing each other.
When officers ordered them to stop, Goode allegedly attempted to evade them. According to the police report, Sgt. Terrance Peyketewa noticed Goode was armed with a knife. He told the man multiple times to stop running, but Goode allegedly refused to listen.
Officers reportedly deployed a taser on Goode, and he was taken into custody.
The alleged victim said that Goode stabbed him, but Goode reportedly claimed that the victim “pulled himself into the knife.” The victim admitted he’d chased Goode after he stabbed him.
During the chase the victim asked a couple he ran by to call the police on his behalf. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Goode was arrested for aggravated battery (use of a deadly weapon), tampering with evidence, and resisting arrest. His preliminary hearing in Gallup Magistrate Court is scheduled for Sept. 3.
